Tyler, TX — CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic (CTC), part of CHRISTUS Health, has been recognized with the Medicus Integra® Award by the Coalition for Physician & APP Well-Being. This award honors health care organizations demonstrating a comprehensive and sustained commitment to physician and advanced practice provider (APP) well-being, engagement and professional fulfillment.

CTC was selected following a rigorous evaluation process, including the Medicus Integra® survey and on-site engagement, which highlighted the integration of well-being across its culture, leadership and operations—positioning CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic as a leader for embedding clinician well-being into organizational strategy.
“This award is a powerful affirmation of CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic’s intentional, system-wide commitment to physician and APC well-being,” said Dr. Marisa Emmons, chief clinician wellness officer for CTC “It reflects the comprehensive work across operations, culture and support services to create an environment where clinicians feel heard, supported and empowered. This recognition validates that well-being is not a single initiative, but a deeply embedded strategy that aligns leadership, infrastructure and daily practice.”
A defining strength of CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic is its dyad leadership model, which aligns clinical and administrative leaders to promote shared accountability and coordinated decision-making. This approach keeps physician and APP perspectives central to organizational priorities, supported by multidisciplinary physician-led groups like the Quality Operations Committee that drive transparency, collaboration and continuous improvement.
CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic has made sustained investments in clinician well-being through a mature, system-wide approach, including a Peer Support Program, integrated EAP resources, protected time and restorative spaces, ongoing assessments and spiritual care. Complementary strategies—such as transparent compensation, EMR optimization and thoughtful scheduling—further reduce administrative burden and support high-quality care delivery.
CTC has also developed a comprehensive learning and leadership ecosystem to support professional growth, engagement and resilience. Customized leadership pathways, wellness education and career development initiatives are reinforced through continuous improvement methodologies that drive measurable outcomes.
“Leadership has been foundational in both shaping and sustaining well-being efforts,” Emmons said. “Senior leaders actively engage with well-being committees and ensure physician and APC voices are integrated into strategic planning and operational decisions. Importantly, leadership has reinforced that well-being is a shared organizational value, demonstrated through visibility, accountability and consistent responsiveness to clinician feedback.”
These efforts have improved communication, collaboration and operational efficiency while increasing clinician engagement—strengthening both patient care and workforce resilience. The evaluation further positions CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic as a national leader in clinician well-being, with opportunities to expand its impact through innovation, thought leadership and broader dissemination of best practices.
“CTC will continue to lead in physician and APC well-being by advancing system-level strategies that support clinicians in a sustainable way,” Emmons added. “This includes ongoing efforts to optimize workflows and reduce administrative burden, expand leadership development and mentoring opportunities and strengthen feedback loops so physicians and APCs remain actively involved in how their patients receive care. By continuing to invest in professional resources, peer support and work-life integration, CTC will ensure well-being remains a core component of operational and clinical excellence.”
