AMA Recommendation – Work-Hour Gatherings
American Medical Association
Medicus Integra Criteria
RSL: Scheduling
The AMA explicitly suggests scheduling social/support gatherings during work hours and limiting those outside work . For instance, a department might replace a 7 PM dinner meeting with a noon conference (with lunch provided). Also, if after-hours events are necessary, plan far in advance and perhaps shorten them. The key is involving physician families in deciding what’s “convenient.” Some groups rotate meeting times (one quarter on a Saturday morning with family invited for breakfast, next quarter during a weekday) to accommodate different needs. By aligning with this AMA guidance and being thoughtful about timing, organizations fulfill the spirit of this item.
