When creating a collegial lounge or breakroom, organizations should ensure the space is welcoming to all physicians/APPs and, if relevant, aligns with institutional mission or spiritual heritage. For example, a faith-based hospital might include a reflection area or inspirational decor related to its healing mission. The goal is to make the lounge not just a physical space, but a symbolic “community center” for the medical staff. By intentionally structuring and using such a space (e.g. hosting informal gatherings or celebrating personal events there), leadership can signal that physician collegiality and well-being are organizational priorities
