Medicus Integra Criteria
RSL: Crisis Resources
Medically Induced Trauma Support Services (MITSS) created a toolkit to set up “clinician support programs” for caregivers after adverse events. It provides templates and strategies to support healthcare workers in crisis due to medical errors or patient trauma . By implementing a second victim support program using this toolkit, an organization addresses physicians in acute emotional crisis (often a time of great vulnerability). It aligns with showing “ways in which the organization trains physicians/APPs to be more resilient” by helping them process events, align with personal values (through healing discussions), and learn coping skills. This also ties into recognizing personal “landmarks” – e.g., the program might encourage acknowledging the anniversary of a tough case or loss and offering support, which directly fulfills the criterion of recognizing personal events as a means to improve resilience .
