Have you ever experienced a healthcare team interaction that left you bewildered, frustrated, or perplexed? If so, you are not alone. Interprofessional healthcare teams face inimitable challenges including, but not limited to, varied training and experience, frequent team member rotation, inclusion of trainees, high workload, and decreased staffing. These challenges coupled with experienced, perceived, or historical mistreatment can result in strained relationships, lower functioning teams, and decreased team and individual well-being. While this situation may initially seem to be hopeless, there is the possibility of a triumphant outcome. What if the challenges inherent to interprofessional healthcare teams were utilized as opportunities for enrichment and growth? This learning session will challenge your paradigm and offer actionable strategies to improve the functioning, psychological safety, and trust of your interprofessional teams to enhance team and individual well-being.
