RSL: Crisis Resources
To show evidence of aligning organizational and personal values (as RSL.C.1 asks), a resource could be structured workshops or retreats on personal mission. Some hospitals use facilitated sessions where physicians reflect on their personal values and how those connect to the healthcare organization’s mission. For example, one health system included a segment in orientation and leadership training about identifying your “why” in medicine and relating it to the institution’s core values – which addresses burnout by reconnecting to purpose. While not a packaged product, the concept is supported by literature: Vanderbilt’s peer messenger program highlights how connecting behavior feedback to shared values fosters acceptance . Organizations might bring in facilitators from groups like The VitalSmarts “Influencer” training or Simon Sinek’s Start With Whyphilosophy to help tie values to actions . Documenting these efforts (e.g., “We held two resilience workshops where physicians identified their top 3 personal values and discussed how to honor them at work”) will satisfy the values congruence and resilience training evidence.
